Can Your Golf Tours arrange air travel?
Direct flights are available from many cities in the US and Canada into the UK’s major airports. Should you be unable to access a direct route to your desired regional destination, we recommend connecting in either New York or London. Your Golf Tours is a division of Your Golf Travel Ltd, which is an ATOL and IATA licence holder, meaning that we can book and ticket air travel on your behalf; if you would like assistance with flight sourcing and ticket reservations, please contact your dedicated representative.
Will we have to arrange transportation whilst at our destination?
Our vacations are quoted inclusive of all transfers, but we are happy to arrange a rental vehicle or a concierge driver for the duration of your stay.
When are the best golfing conditions in Europe?
May through September are the peak months in the UK and Ireland, with average temperatures in July and August of 70-75 degrees Fahrenheit. April and October are regarded as shoulder months, and are also generally good times to play. Spain and Portugal can be extremely hot in July and August, so March through June and September and October are the ideal travel periods.
Will I need a handicap certificate?
Certain golf clubs, particularly at St Andrews and the other Open Championship courses, require that visiting golfers are below a maximum handicap limit. This is regularly enforced and we recommend that all travellers carry proof of handicap.
The handicap limit for playing the Old Course is 24 for men and 36 for ladies. In addition, an official handicap card will be a prerequisite for play at the Old Course.
Can we rent golf carts?
Golf carts are not typically available at links courses in the UK and Ireland, but are usually readily available in Spain and Portugal. If you require dispensation for a golf cart on medical grounds, then please advise your representative at time of booking.
What documentation should I travel with?
You will need your passport to fly and self-drive groups will also require a valid driver’s licence. We recommend that you also take photocopies of your important documents and keep them separate from the originals.
Should I have travel insurance?
We strongly advise that all members of your group take out travel insurance, and check the terms of your policy relating to golf or sporting equipment. There are a number of specialist companies that provide tailored insurance for golf travellers.
When will I receive confirmation of my itinerary?
We will issue you with full, written confirmation of your golf, travel and accommodation details by email after we have received payment of the final balance of the trip. Final balance payments are due a minimum of 8 weeks prior to travel.
How can I pay for my vacation?
We accept payment by VISA, Mastercard, American Express and bank transfer. Please note that VISA and Mastercard payments are subject to a 2.5% handling surcharge and a 3.5% surcharge for American Express. Payments can be processed in US Dollars or British Pounds. We require a minimum deposit of $1500, or 20% of the total cost in order to secure your trip.
Will I be issued with vouchers to present to the golf courses?
Yes. Your tee times will be confirmed in your itinerary, but you will also receive vouchers by email that you should print and travel with.
Will I be able to make changes to my itinerary?
We will endeavour to make requested changes to your itinerary prior to your final balance payment. Amendments may be subject to an administration fee.
